In January, we were very thankful to have received a grant from the High Peak Borough Council UK Shared Prospective Fund (UKSPF) to help us purchase a new canoe and kayak storage and transport trailer for our Paddlesports team. The team has been operating since 2022 and has delivered canoeing, kayaking, and raft building sessions to 1153 young people including Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Brownies, Guides, and Rangers. This new trailer makes it possible for us to transport gear more easily which should enable us to offer more opportunities locally and further afield in the future.

Following further grant applications, we have also been able to purchase a set of smaller helmets suitable for our smallest paddlers from Squirrels. With this equipment, we can now offer more young people the opportunity to take to the water and make a splash! Our team visited 1st Chinley Squirrels, who helped us test the size of our new helmets which we’re glad to say fit well!

Kayaking, canoeing, and raft building sessions for Scout and Guide sections can be made on the Paddlesports Team page.
