Squirrels from both 1st Chinley and 3rd Buxton spent the night under canvas (sort of) in a Christmas-themed joint sleepover!
The groups met at the supermarket and went shopping for their meals, ingredients for gingerbread biscuits, and some sweet treats. They then made the very muddy walk back to the scout hut before a spot of lunch.
The squirrels followed lunch with some festive baking, and prepared their gingerbread biscuits. Whilst waiting for them to bake and cool, two squirrels took on their YouShape award and took the lead with craft-based and penalty shootout activities. The sugar came back out and the biscuits were decorated with an array of sweet toppings before the squirrels got ready for tea.
A campfire rounded the evening off with songs and stories; as well as S’mores of course! The squirrels settled down in their pop-up tents to get some much needed rest for the next day’s activities.
Morning came, and after breakfast, the squirrels had a go at more festive craft and took on 1st Chinley’s traversing wall.
For many, this was their first night away from home and they were all fantastic. Well done squirrels!
